Vibe Front cover analysis
The Title is used in Masthead, the largest Font to show the magazines branding. The font is strong and bold reflecting the theme of the image. A king is usually strong and bold. All the information is towards the left this is because psychologically our minds read from left to right and therefore the text on the audience invites the audience in so that they read the teasers and additional information. The Main cover line fits with image. A skyline is used, the additional information is of Featured Artist in the magazine inviting the audience in so that they continue reading the magazine.
Vibe Contents Page analysis
Only
some editorials are listed in the magazine.
There
are 8 sections in the Magazine, which are; serve and volley, wrath of the Math,
The Passion of Chris, Rookie of the year, and Death of a salesman, Twin
Killing, They Got Balls, Young Forever and a splash of masculinity. The
sections have been organized into one column and are in short small paragraphs
and square text boxes. They have been
placed under a sub-heading written in bold for each section. They also have
been aligned into a straight line next to the image of Chris Brown.
The
image used is of the artist Chris Brown. The image shot is a long shot however
not showing the whole body of the artist. The lighting is not bright and is a
black and white image. The image connotation shows power and strength which
reflects the front covers image and shows the similarities between the two. The
anchorage used of the Text 'Splash of Masculinity' since the image represents
the same message.
The
written piece is about the opinions of the artist on the use of the internet
and technology allowing artist to become famous and share their music with
everyone worldwide. The beginning is about the Artists opinions on sharing
music on the internet. The middle is about his career and what he has been
working on: new music and projects. The ending is about the Artists opinions on
his own work and how he feels about his music.
The
language used is very formal however I feel targets a young adult and teenage
audience due to the use of the artist’s opinions being used quite often. I also
feel that it targets audience of young adults trying to make their own music
because they share the same opinions as the artists and could relate to it.
The
article has been laid out into 3 columns. The first column is written in a
large paragraph whereas the others are written as small paragraphs. They are
all aligned in a straight line and the magazine looks very neat and organized.
Teasers have been used in the skyline to invite the audience to read this
section on the magazine.
The
image shot is a medium shot. The lighting is bright and the lack of colors
brings all the attention to the artist and therefore portraying he is the main
attraction. It also brings a connection between the written piece and the
image.
